POWER OF POLO FILM WINS ‘PEOPLE’S CHOICE’ SILVER AT SMILEY CHARITY FILM AWARDS

Jazzy Bee’s superb film for Power of Polo won silver in the ‘People’s Choice’ category at the Smiley Charity Film Awards last week, highlighting the impact of the work this charity does in improving lives through sport. The film, which features participants from charity partners Alabaré and the Armed Forces Equine Charity working with Cool Hooves Polo School, was produced by Elisabeth Kerr and is a powerful tool in spreading Power of Polo’s message of partnership.

Power of Polo founder and CEO, Dr Katy Hayward, was thrilled with the award: “The power of film is undeniable, and Jazzy Bee’s has helped us to show people what we do, because it’s not always easy to visualise. It has allowed us to powerfully communicate our work and importantly, to gain support. Being recognised in this prestigious charity competition is a hugely important milestone for us; polo can be used as a sport for change, just watch the film and see for yourself! I’d like to thank Elisabeth Kerr and the Jazzy Bee team, our charity partners and the brilliant people at Cool Hooves Polo, who have supported our vision from the start.”

Power of Polo works with a number of different charity partners but both Alabaré and the Armed Forces Equine Charity have been involved for some time and recognise how life-changing working with horses can be for some. “Being a small part of the Power of Polo movement has been so exciting,” commented Jamie Balls MBE, CEO of the Armed Forces Equine Charity. “We are delighted to stand shoulder to shoulder with all organisations that use the power of sport for social change and congratulate Power of Polo on this award.” Gemma Snell, a Project Leader at Alabaré who is soon to join the PoP Board of Trustees, added “this film is a moving tale of individuals coming together as a team, discovering new skills and themselves. Congratulations to everyone involved.”

Power of Polo would like to extend particular thanks to Elisabeth Kerr and Jazzy Bee Productions, who have been unwavering in their support. Elisabeth, the film’s producer, said “storytelling through film has the power to cut through the noise and help people truly see and feel the impact of a cause. At Jazzy Bee, it was our honour to help bring this story to life: to make it visible, to move people, and ultimately to help this brilliant charity reach further and inspire more.”
